Summer school will be online instead

BioSC International Summer School 2020 – “From plants to pilot plant” - Join the summerschool and learn about bioeconomy! Due to the Corona situation and as a response of several interested persons, who hesitated to apply due to still existing travel limitations and unclear COVID-19 infection risks, we have decided now to go completely online with our Summer School!

It still will take place from the 24th – 28th August, 2020. All already submitted applications stay valid, but we extend now the application deadline until July 12th 2020.

Apply at https://www.biosc.de/application_summerschool_2020  by uploading your CV, a motivation letter, and your latest graduate certificate.

Successful candidates will be notified latest until beginning of August 2020.

The international summer school aims to interdisciplinary train talented young researchers, raise their awareness, and create a deeper understanding of a sustainable bioeconomy. The program will cover the whole process starting with sustainable plant biomass production followed by examples for fermentation concepts and downstream processing. In addition, substrate analytics and economic evaluation will be taken into account.

Besides keynote presentations, the program will be designed – despite being virtual - interactively, including exercises and case studies on the different topics in this highly innovative field of future bio-based process development.

We will create an agenda, which offers plenary talks, live streams and videos, but also enough breaks and interactive work and exercises in smaller groups, to address the specific needs of an online only Summer School.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Sustainable plant biomass production
  • Building up the refinery
  • Determining lignocellulose
  • Sustainability assessment and business models
  • Case studies
