That was the task that students were set earlier this year for the BISC-E competition. Teams from the Netherlands and Denmark took up this challenge. The result was a broad spectrum of innovative ideas, from the recovery of valuable materials from waste flows in the food-processing industry to the cultivation of alternatives for fertilisers, the production of self-destructing plastics and the extraction of valuable components from syngas.
